No, just Fed fans who don't know the rules of the game.
In the TB Zverev stopped the point because the ball kid dropped a ball (the umpire didn't see it as the ball in play was down Zverev's end). Fed was on top in the point but they had to replay it and Zverev then hit a massive ace.
Zverev did handle the situation admirably in the post match interview admist a torrent of boos.
I watched the second set and thought Sasha was excellent and deserved to win. He certainly didn't deserve to be booed - that was quite disgraceful and Annabel was brilliant in the way she criticised the audience. I've had my doubts about Zverev in the past but everything he's said and done this week has won me over, especially his beautiful tennis today. Just a shame we had to put up with Bouncy and Boris doing the commentary!
And Mike Bryan and Jack Sock take the doubles title, 13-11 in MTB. Well done to them, I think Bryan clearly shows he is top doubles player by a distance
What super speeches at the end. Sascha came over so well and Novak made a very good contribution.
Adding Lendl to Sascha's team could be a great move. Lendl could, like he did with Andy, through sheer force of who he is and how he says it, get into Sascha's mind to continually concentrate on doing the basics consistently well and then let his sheer talent to do the special be the icing on top that may separate him.
Good stuff on two accounts: I'm no fan of Novak and I really hope that this is the start of Sascha performing well at slams and perhaps, even, the seeds of change...
Indeed, good result for tennis and zverev has the personality to be a big name in the game. My 17 year old daughter seemed very keen to watch today!
On a serious note, we have zverev and then several others behind him ready to make a break through, it could well be a big year, and Andy and kyle need to make sure they can step up to the challenge!
With 6 under 24s ending the year in the top 16, it certainly to me has the feel finally of the new guard positioning themselves. But can they make the big title breakthrough at the highest Slam level.
And also such as Chung, Shapovalov, de Minaur and Kyrgios a bit further down the rankings. Interesting comment at the end of today's final from either Tim or Boris to the effect that Kyrgios may have missed the boat. Maybe but a lot will still be down to him and his focus and desire.
Impressive win for Zverev but I find it hard to get behind him. Of the next gen players (excluding Kyle), I'm hoping Khachanov can make it big.
Well I've grown to love him this week. Brilliant tennis, great personality, amusing speeches - the future of tennis looks bright with him in the ascendancy. Still hope Kyle can beat him of course!
