Lao lost in the next round to Watson's doubles partner Gibbs.

More surprising is that Bouzkova has taken the first set off Bencic 6-1. Bouzkova was of course a very good junior but hasn't transitioned as well on to the main tour yet as some of her fellow junior grand slam champs, like Bencic.

I do occasionally watch some of the US men's challengers matches with Mike C commentating and just watching this Bencic match here and it really is a fantastic service they have, yet we struggle to even follow qualifying scores in our ITFs, never mind a main draw stream.

Sorry to have to report that because of a nagging knee injury, Nicole Gibbs has decided to pull out of her doubles semifinal tonight with partner Heather Watson against Muhammad-Sanchez. Gibbs will play Giuliana Olmos in singles semi on Saturday.

Shame for Heather.
