Despite there being three Grade 2 events this week (one with Blu Baker) this is the event with the lowest initial acceptance combined cut, and features British top seeds. Live scoring should be available here
Just two of the 7 in action today with seeds prevailing easily
Girls R1 (L32)
(1) Victoria Allen d. Matilde Paoletti (ITA) 6-3 6-2
(3) Jade Bornay (FRA) v Amarni Banks
Anaelle Leclercq (FRA) v Morgan Cross
(4) Elsa Jacquemot (FRA) d. Amelia Bissett 6-2 6-2
(WC) Karen Marthiens (FRA) v (2) Destinee Martins
Millie Bissett has got a lot of attention, at LTA level, with wildcards to Roehampton and Wimbly qualis and a lot of people talking about her.
And, although she's small, she plays a nice enough game.
But I was rather disappointed (although not as much so as by Indy Spink's game) when I saw most of them play this summer.
Elsa Jacquemot is exactly the same age as Millie and won easily.
Yes, I got the impression Millie was favourably looked on by the LTA but hadn't noticed anything outstanding though I have never actually seen her in action.
She does look very small in pictures and still just 15 so maybe a growth spurt will help her push on.
She is the best in her age group, but I don't see her as a world beater. Lack of depth in quality of GB girls until you go down to the even younger girls where we have a few potential players.

I have an immense amount of empathy for all the young players and their families regarding the growth lottery but all they can do is give it their all, relatively speaking all those playing at this level are extremely gifted and although elite tennis is very unforgiving there are some amazing opportunities and experiences that would never be on the horizon of most youmg people.
This week last year was also a good one for both James and Victoria - Victoria was runner-up here in singles and doubles whilst James won both titles in a Finnish G4. Hence both need to progress further in singles to defend points - in Victoria's case against her doubles partner
