One doubles match still to finish, Emma Hurst in this one, gone to a MTB after two ordinary tie-breaks.
I'll post all the results as soon as that finishes.
Never assume. CD has done the same regarding Sam's withdrawal.
I think we're allowed to assume - or very little would get posted on this forum, it would just be a result list
But you're quite right, it may well mean we're wrong....
The comment about Sam had slightly more basis as I'd heard that she had some injury issue. But if you know the real reason from when you were there, we'd all be interested.....
I have no more information other than she looked fine when winning her match.
I went along today, and it was good to see Emma in the flesh as it were. She seemed like a nice person, just hanging out with her team. she's alot taller (maybe 5' 10'') than I expected her to be at her age, and already seemed muscled up. I would have thought that she were much older just looking at her.
Her demeanor and game seemed very controlled, she had a lot of easy power, hard and low over the net. There was the odd cummon and look of frustration at losing critical points or UEs, but nothing too OTT. I heard her talking to her coach after the game too, and again, it seemed to me like yes, there were frustrations, but she hadn't let them affect the outcome. She could easily have done that when her opponent came back to 5-4 from 4-0 up, but just got on with it although I could see there was some frustration there.
With Freya, she seemed to be hitting the ball hard, really whacking the cover off it, but unfortunately not always in court, and much higher over the net than Emma. She wasn't overly frustrated, but was certainly talking to herself with the frustration. She seems quite the physical beast, and seemed to beat herself today. I didn't really get into any of the other games, the only other thing of interest to me was that SBG was known as Beth.
I'll be interested to see how the week progresses.
