RE: Week 43 - ITF ($60K) - Saguenay, Canada Hard

Agreed - that was exhausting to watch.  How many points does that win give her?

$60k points are 1,8 and 15 for QF (if Naomi gets any further than that this week it'll be a real shock the way she's playing right now)

Fran has always given the ball thump good to hear she is thumping it a bit harder and keeping the ball in. Fantastic to get points on the board in a 60K (she should just give 25K's a miss if there is a problem qualifying because of being stripped of her 15K points). Easy solution don't k ow why anybody else hasn't seen it.

Frans ranking is due to drop to about 520 on Jan 1st which may leave her in 25k qualies - 3 wins to pick up any WTA points. Not a nice place.

If and when the changes come in - Fran is one of our biggest losers after Emily App.

edited for typo.

With the points from here and if she doesn't withdraw from the next two 60Ks she's entered, she'll have a minimum of 45 points on conversion day which will put her around 500. She should also have an ITF ranking of about 45 until April which may, in some weeks, give her a 25K main draw reserved place. Even if it doesn't and she struggles to get in 25K qualifying, she just needs one decent 15K to put her ITF ranking up to a position where she would be getting reserved places. Let's also not forget there at least 9 fewer direct acceptance places in 25Ks next year (more for those that were 48/64 qualifying) so it's going to be harder to get in than it has been. The ITF is expecting players ranked outside the top 400 to be playing at least some 15Ks.

I'd be careful about treating OER with too much accuracy for the new world. Aside from they are forecasts and they'll be some movement as players replace points due to come off in the next two months, it does have errors, predominantly not converting current non-counters to counters. And I don't know what they doing with Emily Appleton where they are not even summing what they have as her countable counters correctly. She should have 11 points at conversion, not 5.

Some odd scheduling here, with the centre court starting with a R16 match then a couple of R32 matches. Then it's Fran's R16 match followed by another R32 match.

I wouldn't be surprised if it is streamed. The later matches involve home players. Why they put the first match then is odd though, even with the WC involved.

Many thanks for that RS. Checked against Stevens stats and it should be 11 for Emily Appleton. smile

Probably won't be too long until Naomi is on court. She follows the older Osaka onto court who is currently 5-0 up on her French opponent.

I wouldn't write Manon off just yet, although Osaka is on a roll having reached the final in the 25k last week. Manon may have had a bad patch there, but the last two games were close, and finished at 1-6.

Not quite what I was expecting, but Manon wins 1-6 5-2 ret.
So Naomi due on court any minute.
