... and with that Isner has been broken in today's third set, 1-2*

 ...but it still ends up in a 7-6 6-7 7-6 win, meaning 6 TB's in 2 matches!

And up to 9th in the Race as well. Let's just let Isner play TB's only, cut out the other 12 games in the set

With clearly differing views on the matter, I've attached a poll to try and gauge the level of support or otherwise from the forum.

Doesn't make it right or wrong but interested to see.

baseball world series game 3 dodgers beat red sox in 18th innings after an over 7 hour game
and no one calling for their to be some rule to shorten the game or to spare the exausted players they all just saying what a great ocassion and a clasic it was

Slight difference in the ongoing amount of effort being needed.by each player compared to tennis.

Do they have to play another match tomorrow?

I reckon that those who do play again tomorrow will cope

yeah game 4 is today

it seem that all the argument about it to long get to boring for punters tv dont like the scedule etc all out the window in a sudden tho they were bought up for wimby they now irellevant and the only thing that count is how much effort each player needs?? you knovk off all the critearia that don't fit to leave just one that is the one true reason?
it fine but why were they all bought up to 'justify' the wimby case if they aplied then they aply here to sureley?
mental concentration for these games is huge one slip in overtime means the match where as in tennis you mostly get another chance unless it game point
here you lose the game on one error just ask bill buckner about that and the fallout for him and his club and city!!!

i think it fair to show the similarity

but it already is said that all the plans got to change for the manager as starting pitchers due today had to play yesterday and cant go again today so some may cope but others already knocked out contention think of that a pitcher about to start they 1st world series match now may never get the chance becasue of yesterday but still no one scream for changes they were broke like anderson or isner but they just gotta deal

seems fair comparison not exact on everything otherwise it would be tennis wouldnt it but enough similar to be worth the comparison

Australian Open granted approval to use a "super tiebreak" to 10 points at 6-6 in final sets. Could be introduced as soon as 2019. If it is, all slams different:

French Open - No tiebreak
Wimbledon - Tiebreak to 7 at 12-12
US Open - Tiebreak to 7 at 6-6

If a final set TB is used, a MTB is something I strongly favour. After 5 sets, a normal TB feels a bit short.

Tradition and heritage don't count anymore - I'm sure it will make the TV people happy.  disbelief

Good stuff by Australia. That's two with some sort of TB at 6-6 in a final set

Personally not too fussed whether it's a normal or "super TB" but my preference remains for a TB at that stage.

Though at least Wimbledon has made a pretty good move in negating much of the potential effect of the traditional occasional awful marathon caused by having no final set TB contingency at all.

Think I agree with wolf Re MTB in final set, don't really like fact all are using different rules, but at least they are all being progressive. Apart from the French, get those yellow jackets on French tennis players!
