RE: Jack Draper

Jack has taken on Jamie Delgado as his new head coach, though James Trotman will remain involved.

I think Delgado is an excellent coach, hes done great work with Dimitrov after Andy. Hope this works well for them both.

And it is just do JDs and no JT as JT stands down to spend more time with his family and then go back to the LTA. All depart as friends though and seem happy with their choices

Jack was due to play the big money Saudi Six Kings Slam this week - but what a damp squib it seems to be. Every match so far has been two straight sets, both semis 4 and 2. They have ended with a Alcaraz and Sinner final, tomorrow, but is it really worth spending $15m or whatever it is on this drudge?!

I personally have no interest in such Invitationals. But were the matches "drudge" or just decent clearly won matches?

Tbf if they are playing decently to win and the scores are straight sets with 4 & 2 SFs simply by being too good, so be it - people made their choice to watch in person or on TV, and as you say the sponsors to offer such millions with normal tennis matches offering no guarantees. I'd much rather that than any thought they were contriving to keep matches close.

Oh I agree - my comment was more, do the organisers really think it was worth spending such money on.

but from what I saw on Netflix , it was low key and lacking tension, for sure

There must be something in it for the sponsors but I can't understand the attraction for the folks watching non-competitive matches unless they involve Mansour Bahrami

There are some very pointed comments in the BBC article about Rune retiring injured (and Jacks comments about length of season are associated). Said comments reference how many of the players complaining about the length of the tour have rocked up in Saudi Arabia for a non-compulsory invitational!

Of course had a good year but it feels less of a particular breakthrough year than for the other 3 nominated.

He was already WR 15 at the start of the year and had reached last year's US Open SF. Still as I say, it's been a good year with a Masters title and RU and rising to WR 4 before having his season cut short by injury when more was hoped to follow including probably an appearance in the ATP tour finals. Will end the year at WR 10.
