According to Instagram Jack is injured, which I think we probably suspected after his recent retirement v Lloyd and his withdrawal from Bolton. No specific detail but he's clearly itching to get back on court.

Good luck to him I just hope he gets good advice and takes the time to get healthy. There is no hurry he needs to get his strengthening and conditioning right hopefully its a long career and top 200 by 20 will set his career up nicely.

Doesnt really answer your q Helen but Jack has posted an instagram story at Wimbledon (just the lush green of it, not playing) so hopefully he is now fit and healthy for the grass season.

BBC article on Jack from a few days ago with some more quotes from him.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/tennis/48667571

Interesting to find out from both articles about what kept him out. Broken finger, glandular fever type fatigue, wrist and hip tendinitis and growth spurts. Hope its all settled down and he can get going again. He sounds confident.smile

Jack seemed to be winning futures titles pretty regularly a while back and has just one another at one of his earliest opportunities since his return so hes probably ready to step up to challengers - when would this be likely to happen. I think his ranking after Roehampton win should be just about good enough right? At least for qualities? Not sure I understand the rankings well enough tho

I guess depends to quite an extent on just how he feels.

He's a bit short of tennis in the year as a whole. I don't know what the issue(s) were but he may feel he wants a few more tournaments at 25K level before trying to push on a level. He gets more matches in and can earn ranking points and push that ranking higher before moving to challengers. And with a higher base ranking more chance of consistently getting in. His ranking looks like being around the 370s on Monday week which may actually be more than enough for most challenger MDs these days with 48 in the MD.

Good to see him back in the swing of things but no huge hurry. Though also I think he's a very ambitious lad so he won't leave it overlong.
