Week 42 - ITF ($100K) - Suzhou, China - Hard

Not a huge difference, but as far as I can see from www.britishtennis.net/stats/ptdf.htm ...

So far in reaching the QF here, Katie is guaranteed 633 points for Australian Open MD entry.

Now guaranteed at least 663 points next Monday : 647 + 25 - 9

And will have two 9s ( including the one she is replacing this week ) to replace the 18 and 30 she has to drop.

663 - ( 18 + 30 ) + ( 9 + 9 ) = 633

The openerarankings site also shows Katie's 15th & 16th counters going into this week as 10 & 9 with a first two non counters as 9 & 5.

I agree. I was being lazy and just adding the net 16 points that OER has yet to add onto what they say she would have in December, when I should have been adding 25 minus the 5 for what they have as her 16th counter.

Katie started late due to Cepelova and Hibino going long. She's 4-2* up, had a BP just before to go 5-2.

Winner plays Zheng in the semi final.

*4-3

Looks like there's been 3 breaks already.

It's now *4-5, but there have been 6 breaks of serve and some very very long games. Katie was 4-1, double break up.

Katie was 4-1 up when I was watching the stream, not firing on all cylinders though, but still the better player. But somethings not going right as she's just lost the set 6-4

I only started watching it from midway into Katies serve when she was 4-3 up then lost the next three games. Tbh neither player is playing that well but Katie really handed it to her opponent. She hardly got s first serve in across her two service games and loads of UEs too. If either of them cut out the errors and got first serves in, you'd think theyd walk it!

Oh dear Katie has retired. Hope it's nothing too serious.

Yes, that's unfortunate, obviously something went wrong as she was cruising early. Wonder if we will see Katie again this season.

QF: Katie BOULTER (GBR) [4] 96 lost to Viktoriya TOMOVA (BUL) 162 (CH:128 July 18) 4-6 retired
