Week 42 - WTA International ($250k) - Luxembourg - Hard

Long way back now. 1-4*

There's often LL spots opening up at this stage of the season but that won't matter if this stays the same.

Perhaps she needs a new coach or a regular coach; she is so talented when playing at her best.

So frustrating. At times it feels that Hev plays with more conviction when shes dropped outside the top 100 than when shes in it.

Muchova was carrying and issue and pulled out after her win over Hev

Possibly explains why Muchova hasn't competed since the US Open and if so, that doesn't bode well for Watson. Last 3 matches - lost 0 and 3 to Diyas, lost to Lu and then to a potentially injured Muchova. I suppose the main thing was getting a few wins and putting back-to-back wins together, something she hadn't managed for about 7 months from Australia to Vancouver, Aussie Open entry should be secured but it looks like she is going back over again.

Muchova hasn't played since the US because of a hand injury that needed rest.

What a string of wins Dayana Yastremska is putting together. That's 8 in a row following her triumph in Hong Kong last week. She beat Lepchenko 2 days after winning HK in a match lasting over 3 hours and finishing past midnight, she than comfortably beat Muguruza and now has beaten Gasparyan in straight sets.

I remember being disappointed when she beat Gabi 3 and 1 at Ilkley earlier this year, mainly because I was going down for the weekend and wanted as much British interest as possible, but also because they were very close in the rankings at the time. I knew she had serious potential with her Jr pedigree and doing well at WTA Istanbul the year before, but I didn't think she'd be realising it this early - she's just a few months after her 18th birthday.

As it turned out, her run to the Ilkley final was one of the best parts of that trip as she's so good to watch when on form.
