Starting to go a bit south here. 8 points in a row for Ons who held to love and now has a healthy 0-4 lead in the tie break.

Harriet lost 6-1 3-6 6-7(1). Much better effort against a good opponent, but a bit of a shame about the run of points at the end, Ons winning 11 of the last 12 points.

Shame about Harriet but good win in Q1 and ran Jabeur very close.

In the doubles Harriet is playing with Anastasia Potapova. Play Schuurs and Kalashnikova, the 4th seeds first.

The Mertens/Konta winner is also potentially in line to face Bertens in the QF and Kiki needs a SF to reach Singapore. I'd personally prefer Pliskova and particularly Svitolina to qualify ahead of her.

Not sure Svitina can qualify on account of Sloane playing here

Sloane has now qualified, but Svitolina still can and I'd just about make her favourite, but it's not in her hands any more.

If either Bertens or Pliskova don't make the SF in Moscow, Svitolina is definitely in. If both do then she is out. Both have a bye in the first round, so would just need to win 2 matches.

Bertens must make the SF - if she does, she is definitely in, if she doesn't, she is definitely out. If she does, then Pliskova will have to make the SF as well or she is out.

Should be a very interesting week.

That's certainly what the WTA site also says re what Pliskova and Bertens need to do.

But I am a bit confused re Pliskova. As far as I can see, after reaching the Tianjin final, she is up to 3840 race points, just 10 behind Svitolina's 3850 points, with a 16th counter of 60.

QF would appear to give her 3840 + ( 100 - 60 ) = 3880 points, so above Svitolina and qualifies, whatever Bertens does. What am I missing here?

I agree Bertens needs the SF : 3710 + ( 185 - 30 ) = 3865 points.

Edit : And I see that https://live-tennis.eu/en/wta-race ( admittedly not always the most reliable site ) agrees that if Pliskova wins her L16 match she moves on to 3880 points,

The low counter of 60 is a P5, 2 of which must be included. Moscow is a Premier event and her lowest 'Best other' is currently 100 so another 100 for a QF place wouldn't improve that.
