I thought that he would need 3 tournaments to get into the rankings?
I think that's just the women...am sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong?
I only follow men's tennis, but you definitely only need one point from one tournament to get a world ranking in the men's events. So the ladies need three points? Or three tournament wins to get one point?
Wow. Brilliant result. Will that make him the youngest player in the rankings ?
From what I can see this will be the case. The rankings has some players whos age does not show on the ATP site. But those that do the youngest is 15.
Well done to Mukhtar for taking his chance! I've checked the blank ages and none of the players concerned are under 15.
Helen - only the women need 3 counting scores, though on the flip side, they get a point for losing in R1 at 25K level and above and for winning a QR1 match at 50K level and above, which the men don't. It makes no sense that it's so inconsistent between the two ranking systems, but that's how it is.

In women's tennis you need 3 points from 3 seperate events or alternatively 10 points from 1 or 2 events. Which is a pretty crap system, because you have someone like Sasha Hill who reached the final of a 15K and still isn't ranked.

It will change next year with the new transition tour. So to add to the irony, Sasha now has a ranking for next year, but not yet this year... Eden Richardson, who has 6 points, is in the same situation.
Ah yes, now that you add that info, on the face of it for Eden neither a WTA ranking ( still just the one WTA counter ) nor a transition tour counter ( since a 100K ).
Now that's clearly anomalous if that's how it is going to be, so surely not. Surely a player with just one or two counters above transition tour level cannot be left with no ranking and on entry lists behind all players with a transition tour ranking.
So either they are going to do away with the minimum 3 counters or 10 points for a WTA ranking or such players would accrue transition tour points ??!
Does Eden appear on either shadow ranking list ? ( memo to self - this is the week that I finally do get to know where best to find these lists and try and agree various players' points and until then desist from pretending that I really have that much clue what's going on ).
