Dan plays at midday local time.

I can't help thinking that he would be doing much better in his come back if Hilts was still in his corner.

Was he even down to be playing this tournament in the first place?

I assume he was at one time as he is shown in the week 41 entries thread.

And retires after losing the first set tie break. Just turned it on when it was finishing, commentator Mike C mentioned arm/shoulder issue.

And he retired, after losing 1st set tie break, with an arm injury I think.

Maybe strained it playing too much after time out? Davis cup perhaps, who knows?

It wouldn't surprise me if it wasn't that supreme effort of the Davis cup.  He really hasn't looked anywhere as good as he did then, since then.

He has played one tournament other than this one since DC. Bit early to say such things, no?

Anyway, disappointing but hopefully not anything serious since he has come a long way since his time back earlier this year.

Just one man standing (Jay) to look out for in this tournament now.

Hopefully Dan can get it sorted with rest of this week and next off before heading to Australia for the challengers there. I think Australia for a few weeks could really take Dan up those ranks.

Dan will be possibly seeded in traralgon, he is 8th in the list at at $75k event. Whereas Jay and James ward are outside seedings at Las Vegas, a $50k event, and Dan would have been 15th in listing there. Maybe a sound strategy from Dan.

Instagram now showing him on the way to China. Looks likes hell be playing the 3 Challengers there starting in Ningbo next week.

Jay was beaten overnight by Jordan Thompson, 7-6 6-1. First set looks close but Thompson clearly had too much eventually.

Not been a good week in california
