And good to see that Soumeya and Julia have turned round an early 1-4 deficit, and won their doubles qualifier 6-4 6-3, so they are through to the MD now too.
I woke up in the middle of the night, so watched the second half of the final set. Thought she might turn it around for a while.
Not one of Katy's better performances. I felt that her serve still needs improvement, and doesnt get her any cheap points, and she gave away too many UFE.
However, she lost the match by a single point, and by 6 breaks to 7, so she can't be that far from returning to the form she showed in Feb/March this year.
Katy seemed to be covering an awful lot of ground, running from corner to corner, dashing in for a drop shot and then sprinting back to retrieve a lob but she seemed to lack any points winning weapons. She placed the ball accurately and has the retrieving game of Heather but lacks the power of Jo and the service of Naomi.
Gabi and Dalma Galfi were 5-2 up in their first set, but then contrived to lose the set narrowly in a TB and then the match rather easily after that 6-7(6) 1-6

Those were pretty much my thoughts (posted in relevant thread) from watching Katy play Dodin at Edgbaston this summer.
