What a point to earn break point back. Pliskova tried two drop shots, one that Katie gets back and Pliskova tries a lob and Katie smashes, then Katie passes Pliskova. She breaks back!

But unfortunately has a slightly looser service game, missing long with a few shots and gets broken again. 3-4 Pliskova.

She crumples somewhat in the final game and goes down 3 -6. Still, such promise for greater things I feel. Well done Katie X

Pity, Katie runs out of steam a bit and gets broken again with two double faults and goes down 6-3 in the third. But plenty of evidence that Katie can match it with players at the absolute top level. At times she was striking the ball beautifully and hitting rockets into both corners, whizzing past Pliskova. Just a tiny bit more consistency in those final games, and getting more first serves in and she could have won this match. But really well done Katie.

Only watched the final set. It was very patchy, some super shots, some bizarre rallies, lots of soft errors. At 3-3 15-15 Katie simply collapsed, making 3 horrible errors in a row then followed that by playing a woeful return game despite Pliskova's first serve going missing. The last game started df, error, df.

Great effort from Katie had a feeling she had a chance today, certainly based on her wins this year she is top 100 on merit and probably even higher. Next year should be exciting times for her be good to see how far she can go. I would expect given her image as well the press will jump on board as well in the absence of any other GB person of interest. Cam and Kyle not being resident probably hasnt helped their case and Jo seems to have issues with her game and perceived attitude.

Katie's potential rivals for that top 100 have all fallen by the wayside (apart from two, who are very unlikely to close the big gap), so she will be WR95 on Monday.
Looking forward to seeing how she progresses on the WTA stage in the next few months.
