Well, brilliant from Fran, and now we really do have competition for the GB #9 and 10 places. This points Fran near level pegging with Maia, and one more win would see Fran being the one to take the GB#9 position in 9 days time...

12 points due off on 12/11 then nothing at all until the start of April.
It looks as if she could be the one to go forth into the chasm that divides GB #8 from #9 and begin building a bridge. Though I am sure some helpers would be welcome.
For now Fran would indeed be level pegging with Maia on 89 points on Monday week and I think GB #9 on tiebreak. But how about a points gap ...

Perhaps Serban benefited from just having one match yesterday rather than 2, but as Michael says, a superb week for Fran.
Is it a week off now? Surprised she opted for Spain rather than this event again next week, could have msybe got an SE.

It's still unclear whether she has made the MD in Spain, one way or another, at this point.
Bulgaru, who is Q2 on the acceptance list, is in qualifying which means somebody has an SE otherwise she would have taken the final place in the main draw.
#6 Gymalska seed ended up beating #3 Paolini so now takes on Serban in the final later today. Paolini, like Fran, was part of the 2nd and 3rd quarters which were affected by the rain on Thursday whereas Gymalska and Serban had their R2 matches wrapped up by Thursday. Not saying it would have made a clear impact as it is a level above what Fran has been playing at recently and she has done extremely well to beat Chiesa and reach the semi final, but it is slightly interesting.
Short end of the stick this week, the weather and timings being sub optimal more for some than others but hopefully it will all pan out over her career.
