With most of Fran's points being from 15Ks every 25K point she can get will help her avoid needing to move back down to 15Ks/transition tour next year. The 6 points gained here will move her up in the shadow WTA rankings about 60 places to around 630 . So these are very welcome and extremely useful points. She could probably do with a few more points to be sure of getting into qualifying in 25Ks next year should she miss out on a main draw reserved place. If she plays no more 15Ks this year and I've calculated correctly from the last shadow rankings available from a month ago, she should have an ITF ranking of around the mid 40s at the start of next year with nothing to drop off before April. Whether that is high enough to take advantage of the 25K main draw reserved places, I'm not sure.

I doubt that that many folk will be sure about that much regarding the main / transition tour interaction for quite a while into 2019.

Fran vs Chiesa scheduled to be resumed at 2 pm local ( 1 pm BST ) on Friday with the QF scheduled for later in the day.

Play started late on Friday with a revised schedule. Fran is on court after another women's L16 match currently in play. A potential QF is no longer scheduled to follow today.

With a 6-3 6-3 win and an interrupted *1-1 Fran has so far played 20 main draw games this week.
