Week 40 - Challenger ($100,000) - Challenger - Stockton, CA, USA (hard)

Off topic slightly but early 2019 might see us with Kyle, Cam, Jay, Dan, Andy and maybe Liam all in the top 200. When is the last time we had 5 or 6 men 200 or higher?

I've looked at the ranking history for Arvind Parmar. He was in the top 200 on 2006.06.19 when we had 5 in the top 200 Rusedski, Murray, Henman, Bogdanovic, Parmar.

I'm not sure if this was the last time we had 5.

Dan not taken a point off Liam's last 5 service games.

He took 4 in the TB though and secures it 7-3

Liam 6-0 6-7(3) Dan

Thanks for that. Long time ago. GB tennis is looking up. Plenty of guys lower down as well.

We ended last year with 6 in the top 200.

Andy 16
Aljaz 49
Kyle 50
Cam 114
Dan 133
Liam 170

Of course that then became 5 as Aljaz reverted back to Slovenian.

We last had 5 on 15/01/18. Then the err resting Evo's Australian Open 2017 points came off.

I've now looked up the last time James Ward was in the top 200. This was 2016.06.27. The ATP site says we had 4 then Murray, Edmund, Evans, Ward but the ATP site doesn't remember changes of nationality and Bedene was also top 200 and I think was GBR then.

Steven's year end tables advise that the last year end that we had 7 in the top 200 was 1995.

I think Liam probably has to get it done this set. I would take Dan to win a decider.

And I'd be wrong. Well done to Liam.

Liam kept consistent enough to get the job done. Dan ultimately mixed too many errors in amongst the better shot making.

Glad to see Liam getting the win although I'm a fan of both.

Hopefully this is the start of an upwards curve for Liam again. Good win.

Not sure if anyone saw it but a cracking point in the second set. I think it was when Evo was serving to stay in it at 4-5 in the 2nd. Well worth a watch.

Congrats to Liam, probably needed it more than Evo in the long term. I dont know what it is about Liams game, i just find it very hard to watch. None of his shots seem to flow, but hey he picks up some good wins so cant be that bad. Good luck for the next one

Nice to see Liam playing better. Has a lot of David Ferrer about him I've always said. Not got a penetrating shot as such but he grafts for every point and that's all you can ask.
