Ditto on how nice it is to wake up to see a decent win for Liam. Pleased for him

V good result for Liam, hope he can back it up.

Jay seems to be going through a poor patch at the moment, long few months since I think we saw any form from him?

Dan Evans playing today versus Duckworth.

Well done Liam! Yes its strange about Jay. He was playing so well when he won at Binghamton.

Good luck Dan.

His Binghampton win was at the end of July. We are only now just in October. 9 playing weeks from his tournament immediately after Binghampton, which was Lexington where he reached the QF before retiring mid-match to this one, minus non playing weeks and the DC tie.

But yes, definitely a bit concerning after a hot streak in the doubles at Wimbledon and afterwards. Hopefully he gets his mojo back soon.

Well, Dan played pretty decently but - more importantly - Duckworth played pretty poorly.

Net, net, Dan takes the first set 6-2 without really breaking a sweat.

Dan seems to be playing well - only dropped 5 points on serve in the first set. 6-2

Apart from the last 2 games, where James seemed to throw in the towel, he played a fair bit better that set and Dan had to raise his game a bit - which he did, no problem. Looked as though he was hitting the ball well.....

Just noticed that Liam seems to have Dave Sammel on the road and in his camp for the first time in a few months.

Might just explain that good result - Liam seems to do well with Sammel around.

(NB would still expect Evo to win the next one though...)

Expect Dan to win against Liam tomorrow but the sentimentalist in me hopes Liam can triumph. Dan is on his way back to the top 100 and will get there sooner or later but Liam is at a real crossroads and could use a couple of weeks of good results here and in Fairfield to keep him in touch with Challenger level for next year.
