For me, the most important thing in the match today was that Kyle was still physically competitive at the end of almost 3 hours. Hopefully, as you say, this is a sign that Kyle's health is back to where it needs to be and he can start to string together some good results again. Lajovic is definitely beatable and Kyle is 2-0 in the H2H.
L16: (5) Kyle Edmund WR 16 defeated (Q) Matteo Berrettini (ITA) WR 58 by 7-5 6-7(2) 7-5
*****
QF: (5) Kyle Edmund WR 16 vs (Q) Dusan Lajovic WR 55 (SRB) (CH = 53 last month)
The head-to-head is 2-0 in Kyle's favour: he beat the Serb by 6-4 2-6 6-3 to qualify for the Shanghai Masters in 2016 & by 6-3 6-4 7-6(5) in the World Group quarter-final of the Davis Cup on clay, also in 2016.
As Bob says, and having watched a fair bit of the match, Kyle didn't look physically tired at the end at all - a little frustrated at times, a few AWOL moments, some awful overheads (can't blame those on a virus) but he looked as though he had a gameplan where knew he had to be aggressive and he was still strong enough at the end of the third to keep going to that gameplan.
Mind you, the Italian is only 22 and has an attractive game - just a little bit of Foggy there - the Italians must be excited about his prospects
Looking at the points, a win for Kyle over Lajovic would appear to be able to take him up a couple of places in the rankings, which seems a little generous to Kyle (if he got to 14th) but reflects quite a bunching around that mid 10-20 level. And Kyle should hope to beat Lajovic as well I would say.

Thank you. That's good to know. I couldn't watch it.
Goffin has ended his season due to injury and will fall to around WR 20 - as will Dimitrov (Dimitrov won't be able to defend his London win as it is unlikely or impossible for him to qualify)
Very good to see Kyle so much healthier and if both did look a bit fragile at the end Kyle still again closed out a tight setter against a well ranked player when last year he wasn't winning 3rd sets at all against top 40 players. He has become a much better match player.
Delpo has secured his spot in the O2 field, joining Nadal (if he plays - unlikely), Federer (if he plays - probably will, may not get too many more chances!) and Djokovic
At last, form and fitness returning, thank heavens for that. Lajovic is no match for the fearhand but he is an energetic sort, slowly rising in rankings.
Kyles season ending with a jammy and fortunate points gain just like did at the start of the season. Must be one of the jammiest ever top 16 season ending players for a long time.
That must be the heftiest put down ever! Brutal coming from a Millwall fan, but I can see thinks improving guaranteed three points on Saturday, even if Villa are three up at half time they will find away of gifting the points!
Back to Kyle, I think he may get even Jammier next year, the harder you practice the luckier you get!
