Poor Beth. She's getting better but it's the same old problem - she has a real hard time getting over the line, when you watch her you never feel confident that she'll get the job done. But it's been a very good week. And all moving in the right direction. Shame she couldn't quite get his one closed out.
Yes, making progress. I thought she could beat Sanesi who is fairly close in ranking to her at WR397. But it used to be players nearer WR500 that she had trouble finishing off, now it's moved to under 400, so good progress. And of course, she's risen over 200 places herself this year. Plenty more to come, I'm sure.
Yes, I thought Beth would win both the 2nd and 3rd sets, so it's a very disappointing loss in that regard. If she'd won, it would have moved her up to GB #9 in 10 days time, so she will now stay 9th.
Had she won the 18 pts for reaching the SF, it would have been her biggest counter. But she now has 10 pts coming off on 22 October, and another 10 pts on 26 Nov (yes, there is time before then). This means Beth also needs to replace both these counters to maintain her gradual improvement up the rankings. Next week she is in the MD at Obidos again, and so needs more points once more or she will be coming back down to where she is now. Still she's still making forward steps, even if small ones at a time...

Beth from what I can see needs to work on her fitness I think it fair to see. Would explain why she is a better doubles player as fitness isnt required. She has the talent from the times Ive seen her its just fitness and conditioning that makes the difference at this level. Id say she would be up with Katy Dunne if she had the same level that way.
