Ozgen is now the only remaining seed in the draw, after both the top two seeds retired today and the eigth seed also lost.

 It will be interesting to see how many of the seeded players who suffered early defeats here then appear in qualifying in Hong Kong on Saturday!

Beth in a real battle today. No breaks of serve until the 12th game, when she took her fifth break point of the match and the set 7-5.
Pretty even until then, with few quick games. First set took 1 hour 15 miinutes.
