Week 40 - ITF ($15K) - Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt Hard

Pitak power lit the after burners in the 2nd set. Blitzed the first 5 games in 17 mins, then turned the burners off, missed 2 MPs to concede a return game, then won their final service game to love.

F: Ola and Kasia Pitak (GBR/GBR) 2004 beat Nikola Breckova/ Martina Fricova (CZE/SVK) [WC] UNR 6-2 6-1

Anastasia Sukhotina, 7th seed, has just waltzed the final 6-3 6-0. In fact she won 4/5 her matches in two sets, with no player getting more than 3 games in one set against her in those matches. The one exception was her QF match against Ola, when she ran her to 3 tight sets in 2hrs 46 mins. So congrats to Ola indeed, she wasn't that far off from potentially supplanting Sukhotina in today's final.

It is extremely unfortunate that in this week's q draw she and Sasha Hill are likely to play each other in the FQR, since I would otherwise back both to win MD matches unless drawn against higher seeds. I think both are much better players than all bar 1 possible 2 others in the q draw.
