Securing a place on AO quals is looking a bit of a long shot now given the amonuntbof points she has to defend in the next 8 weeks or so.
Well, she no doubt does need quite a few points which involves some sort of form.
She has so far a guaranteed 202 points by the relevant Aus Open qualifying list date 17/12, currently equivalent to WR 258.
Harriet and Gabi are well safe with both over 330 guaranteed points and Katie Swan has 274 guaranteed points, currently equivalent to WR 207 so looks close to being about enough already if a 96 qualifying field and certainly enough if a 128 field. I am not sure which it is ( it was 96 this year but Wimbledon is changing from 96 to 128 ). Naomi could maybe do with it being 128.
And I have just additionally realised that Katy Dunne also has more guaranteed points than Naomi, 215 points which is currently equivalent to WR 246.
Put another way, in spite of the seemingly of late concerted efforts, having got within reach, not to take over Naomi's current GB # 4 position, adding no further points to anyone, Naomi would be GB #8 on 17/12.
