Eden is a set up on Mathilde Armitano.

But was a break up in the second too and has just broken back.

Armitano is a classic mid-range French player, still young (age 21), done a lot of serious tennis growing up (FFT academies from the age of 12, national championships, etc.), won a 15k titles in singles recently and a 25k title in doubles.
But she's nothing that special, nothing that makes you think she's suddenly going to break into the top 300, more likely fairly ranked at 600 or so and will continue to move upwards, slowly.

Well done, Eden. Glad you didn't make it any more difficult than it need be.

Nicely into the main draw.

Emily App's opponent is very well know to GB players - lost to Tiff one week, beat her the next; lost to Alicia at CHiswick; age 22, rather similar to Armitano above, just another mid-range player, but probably fractionally not even as good - her ranking is very much based on one good trip out to South Africa. (That said, Emily App doesn't have the best track record of quality wins either)

MD is up, even if the qualifying is still under way. Challenging for Beth, but she has a chance. Eden still to be place, Emily App has it all to do.

R32: Sarah Beth GREY (GBR) 440 vs Marina MELNIKOVA (RUS) [6] 264 (CH:170 May 14)

And some intriguing doubles pairings. Top seeds are Beth and EWS! Emily App is also in the doubles with an old partner, whilst Eden is playing with a former partner of Lissey Barnett. I'll add rankings later when I have more time.

R16: Sarah Beth GREY/ Emily WEBLEY-SMITH (GBR/GBR) [1] vs Lou ADLER/Camille SIREIX (FRA/FRA)
R16: Emily APPLETON/ Maria Fernanda HERAZO GONZALEZ (GBR/COL) vs Harmony TAN/ Margot YEROLYMOS (FRA/FRA) [WC]
R16: Eden SILVA/ Julia TERZIYSKA (GBR/BUL) vs Emma LENE/ Lea THOLEY (FRA/FRA)

Ms. Grey is in the MD, and as is the current pattern for the GB ladies, has drawn a seed: #6, Melnikova 259.

Good for Emily to battle out the win.

I have seen little over the last year or two to expect Emily to blow away a player ranked just outside the top 700 if playing to that ranking.

For now I just would like to see her making progress.

Yes, it's listed above ABB. Someone can consolidate them once the qualifiers are placed.

I see that there are two Q vs Q matches. The remaining qualifiers have spots vs seeds 3, 4 & 7 and just one vs a non seed.

So likely to be or for our qualifiers.
