The girls are doing well, Emily Arbuthnot winning in three beating Emilie LeDuc of Clemson , Eden Richardson rolled through Kate Fahmy in two and now up against the number 1 seed Makenna Jones a Tar Heel, probably born with a racket in her hand as the daughter of the Furman coach (dad) and a two time all American from Stanford (mom ) however, I think Eden will give her a tough time.
Unfortunately both Eden and Emily went out in the second round in straight sets although Eden lost the first on a TB to the no. 1 seed and second 7-5 so by no means outclassed, Emily lost 7-5 6-2 to the No 6 seed, Katharine Jockic of Georgia.
Paul Jubb still to play in R16, is one of only a few college player ranked in the top 20 ATP players by age in the not yet 19 cohort, he is behind Jack Draper who at 16 is now featuring three cohorts ahead of his own. A really strong marker of future success.
The Brits are out of the Men's All American Championships with Paul Jubb (current ranking 720) losing 2-6, 2-6 to JJ Wolf (Ohio State, current ranking 500).
Chatting to coach X a few years ago who was bemoaning the state of British tennis -specifically the way those in charge at the LTA were running/ruining things, never listened to those at grass roots level and the massive financial commitment needed to train a player to even National standard. He said he would " love a black player from a council estate to win Wimbledon"
I believe Paul J comes from a "non traditional" tennis background, so coach X here's hoping Paul can win Wimbledon!!!
Although not exactly council estate, the single best thing that ever happened to French tennis in the past 50 years was Yannick Noah winning Roland Garros. Not only was a ton of money pumped into the sport (which probably would have been the same whichever French player had won) but, with his pretty poor Cameroon background, it changed the whole way the sport was viewed in France, got a whole load of new players involved, so new families, new coaches, new sponsors - completely (well, nearly completely) changed the white posh elite feel of the sport.
So, as you say, go Paul !
Yannick had a hell of a lot of things going for him! So difficult to draw any analogy .... perhaps with David Hayes son in a decades time but maybe a bit too much pressure on a an U10!
Yannick was the son of a Cameroonian International Footballer ....... he played professionally in France winning the French FA Cup, his mother was captain of the French Basketball team. So Yannick was the son of two athletes one an affluent African had followed a familiar route out of poverty for elite athletes ie. football to meet his wife, what is remarkable is that his son choose tennis but as probably the worst athlete in three generations of sportsman probably a good choice for Yannick.
Zacharies 6 11 grandson being an arguably even more successful athlete, 2 time NCAA champion (critical component of an iconic Florida Gators team) top 10 in the draft, 2 x all star, best defensive player in the NBA, all NBA first team .... some truely remarkable athletes play that game. Yannick managed to enhance the Noah gene pool by marrying Miss Sweden who had come 4th in Miss Universe.

Marcus Walters and Anna Brogan were both runners up in the South West Regional JUCO tournament, I see Summer Yardley is also at Tyler (Junior College Tennis Power House). They both won the doubles playing with their doubles partners who had beaten them in the singles. Its almost an inter house tournament for the Tyler tennis team. Marcus won the whole lot last year.

I wasn't trying to make too strong of a link.
Although it should be mentioned that when Yannick's dad got injured and had to quit football and they went back to Cameroon they were not well off. Or at least there are many stories about Noah playing with a wooden racket that he sort of fashioned himself, and not on proper courts etc. etc. Whether you choose not to believe those stories, I don't know, but taking it at face value,, it wasn't an affluent period for Noah at that time. (Of course, when he got talent scouted by Arthur Ashe and the FFT sat up and took notice, things got noticeably easier).
However, as said, I wasn't trying to draw a strict parallel, just to point out the huge benefits, both direct and in ripple effect, when someone who is not out of the normal tennis 'top drawer' marches through and shows the others how it's done.
Emily Arb won the consolation doubles with her partner of last year Michaela Gordon, the Stanford second doubles team lost in the final of the main event, putting out Eden + in the QF. Lauryn John-Baptiste + also went out to the team from Kansas that won it. The format ie first to 8 set makes even the best teams vulnerable if the opponents get a flier, but nice to see Emily + knock off three wins in the consolation draw after that initial loss.

In the consolation singles Rickey Hernandez Tong lost in the semifinal of the mens and Emily Arb is in the final later (much later) today against Lommer (Michigan) decent but Emily will start favourite. Although not the MD she has consistently beaten ranked players in the 32 player draw so the run should give her some confidence and consolidate her ranking despite her first round MD loss. She is the only Stanford girl to make any progress here although Micheala Gordon may well be carrying an injury, retiring.
Emily lost in 3 in the MD to an experienced Vandy girl (who will be under ranked because of the depth of their programme). Eden Richardson also lost in 3 to a Vandy girl (Rosca) in the MD QF. Perhaps a consolation final win here will secure Emily the no 2 slot at Stanford. Melissa Lord presently no 2 indeed all the other Stanford girls who played went out in the first round of the consolation singles and Emily also did well at the NCAA singles tournament.
I also think Henry Pattern has made the consolation doubles finals but the ITA site is a mess! Confirmed elsewhere.

Henry and Oli are not in the consolation dubs final but the final of the main event.
Dubs SF
Henry Patten / Oli Nolan (North Carolina-Asheville) bt Aziz Kijametovic / Francois Musitelli (Old Dominion) 6-1, 7-6(5)
In the final they will play Bjorn Thomson / Parker Wynn of Texas Tech. Folk may well remember Bjorn as a junior in the UK although he subsequently took Irish nationality.
