Hope Emily can have a good final week before back to college.

The 25Ks have certainly been appropriate for her doubles with a title and 3 further finals during the summer but the singles form hasn't been there at this level.

Her results are pretty consistent with her sophomore year at college, No 1 in doubles nationally for some parts of the season but plays 4 for Stanford at singles.

I can't see things changing bar injury or Michaela Gordon turning pro in terms of the slot she plays singles in and generally turning pro is not the Stanford way unless you are winning consecutive NCAA singles titles (Gibbs). Although there is no questioning her commitment to tennis she was also the No 1 academic in the PAC 12 with a ridiculous GPA implying given the general standard at Stanford there a fair bit of academic graft going on.

Yes, so it is quite possible Emily is actually more interested in improving her doubles ranking than her singles. And if her academic ability is that high and she's at Stanford... she is probably going to make a far better living in the future outside rather than inside tennis...

Emily is not in the doubles here.

So that's it for Europe. Heading back to California and on the alternates list for a California 60K next week.
