Strong field, I noticed Gael Monfils is top seed here

Dino's giving the doubles a go, too, not that it looks likely that he & his partner will make much progress:

L16:  (3) Gong Mao-Xin & Zhang Ze (CHN/CHN) CR 236 (121+115) vs Akira Santillan (AUS) & James Ward UNR (312+0 [but a CH of 233 in August 2011)  bleh

would not write them off, santillan is a decent player and they could give the seeds a fright

Even if they don't  give the no 3 seeds a run for their money, Dino will pick up $500 for his efforts, plus the possibility of an extra day or two of free accommodation.

Dino is 3rd match on centre, not before 14:00 local.  I think it is a very tough match up, Lloyd Harris has had very good results of late.

It's 4-3*, on serve, at the moment. Pretty much a serve fest. 1 BP each but not taken.

Brilliant tie-break from James - he takes the first set 7-6(5)

Long way to go though.....very close.....

James staved off several BPs but finally got caught on one. Lost the second set 3-6

Harris has been playing well recently, so no surprise really in that result. Harris will break top 100 before end of season.

Even though JW was beaten today, it was a close match with a rising star.   At the very worst, Dino will break even for the week. I hope he can stay healthy and win some matches before he returns to blighty. You have to admire him for his doggedness, it is an attribute that is often missing in English players in the men's game.

The third seeds withdrew with an injury, James and Akira beat the Chinese Alts whose names are equally unpronounceable.
