Hmm, judging by the rankings that does seem very believable. Brouleau's CH does put her in a completely different league to the 3 supposed losers to Brits. I'm not really familiar with Talbi - you can't view her results on the good old Google timeline, but a quick check does show she beat Lissey 7-6 6-2 in Egypt 5 months ago. She did however lose 1 and 0 to Nastja Kolar 2 weeks ago in Almaty, so I did have some hope and I'd probably have backed Emma to beat Beth had they both made the FQR.
Yes. But Brouleau's CH is 18 months ago now and Sam's CH is way higher. And Lou's barely won two matches back to back in the last year. However, Sam is pretty up and down as a player. Still rather disappointing for her.
Like you, given Emma Rad's opponent is a junior, ranked WAY lower than Emma, although ranked a bit higher in adults, I'd hoped Emma would come through that one too,
However, maybe wanting/expecting all five to win was a tad optimistic.....

Oh yeah, it's not great if indeed true, I just meant if there was 2 defeats then those would have been by far the most likely and believable. Some of the players SBG, EWS and Lissey played would just be local youngsters starting out, probably eventually securing a ranking a bit like our Lindh Gallagher and probably helped by a vast amount of ITF events in Portugal. Emilie did actually lose 2 and 0 to Brouleau the other week.
To be honest, I was also mainly interested in Emma as that would have been the most intriguing one to follow next week. I obviously hope SBG (especially now), EWS and Lissey qualify and do well next week, but I'd probably have preferred Emma and one other (sacrificing one) over the suspected outcome.
I expected/ hoped Sam would win. I thought she was beginning to recover her mojo more consistently, and was certainly hoping she would continue her recent upward journey in the rankings... not least because we need a GB 9 and 10 moving upwards, and I had Sam in my top 10 prediction ranking
In a week's time Tara loses a hefty wack of points and will drop out of the GB top 10, currently to be replaced by Maia, who is moving nowhere at the moment. It would therefore be very opportune if we had a few decent performances here this week.
Yes, I'd noticed that Maia was going to kind of inherit a GB top 10 place. She had a pretty good early year ( most particularly her Glasgow 25K RU 30 points ) but not managed to push on in the last few months. The week after Tara drops a 21 pointer Laura drops a 15 pointer on 01/10 so Maia will overtake her as well.
Who is going to be that year end ( and also of course prediction contest end ) GB #9 and #10. Step forward please ...
All down to current GB #20 Alicia B on 55 points are a week or two's really good work from being in contention.

I have Maia in my top 10 too but I did not expect her to stall as completely as she has. She reached the final of the Glasgow 25k in early Feb, the QF of the Goyang 25k in May (ie won 2 matches), and since then hasn't won more than a single match in any tournament. It's been an extremely disappointing year for her so far after that highly promising start.
I have Jodie as my 'ringer' for the top ten this year.
I'm not a huge Maia fan - although she's obviously a lot higher ranked than Jodie at the moment. And, as above, was playing better and better, I thought.
So, all eyes on Cairns as far as I'm concerned
But, all the same, hoping that Beth has too much nouse for the youngster.
And Alicia isn't victim of the falsely ranked Shah (given she made the semis a week or so ago)
And that Em WS slices and dices her way through too
