Week 37 - WTA International ($250K) - Hiroshima, Japan - Hard

Better success for Harriet in the first round of the doubles

R16: Harriet DART/ Priscilla HON (GBR/AUS) 226 (129+97) beat Polona HERCOG/ Tamara Zidansek (SLO/SLO) 1412 (925+487) 6-3 6-2

60 ( net 42 ) points for winning that doubles match should almost certainly see Harriet take out her doubles CH 124.

And with relatively so little to drop off in the coming months ( 18 points on 01/10 and 5 points on 18/02/19 before big 25K title and runner-up points drop off in March ), if she can find her singles mojo she has a window to further significantly push up her ranking. She is currently WR 174 with a CH 167.

Anisimova did see off Harriet's conqueror, Kuwata, 6-3 6-2 in the FQR.

Well Ace, your pick 17 yr old Amanda Anisimova is still going guns blazing. She's won her first two MD matches both by 6-1 6-1 bakery product scores to reach the QF, and her last win was over Saisai Zheng, the WR 76 7th seed.

Listed on the drawsheet as P. Hon (GI Illness), GI being gastrointestinal, I'm assuming.

Ah, Anisimova can't keep it up. Only beat Schmiedlova WR 83 6-3 6-1 in the QF

Another win and she'll be top 100.

Saw Amanda as a 15 year old in the april/may events in the states last year. Was very impressed. Great to see her start to make her breakthrough.

3 very exciting prospects in her, Swaitek and Kostyuk

Anisimova beat (1) Zhang Shuai WR 41 7-6(4) 7-5 in the SF to indeed go top 100. She plays (2) Hsieh Su-wei WR 40 in the final.

She was superb as well. It was a good match from both players, really high level. HSW played 2 full matches in one day so a good opportunity for AA to take this title. She is the favourite.

Swaitek is certainly a name I know from Strongest smile Be interesting to see who gets into the top rank first.

Hsieh is an incredibly clever player, however, and almost specialises in playing top juniors...and she won the final 6-2 6-2.
