Week 36 - WTA $125K Series ($150K) - Chicago, USA - Hard

Yes, the WTA are still calling it a $125K Series Challenger event, despite the premium on this events prize money.

No Hev. Unless she is injured, or has some other pressing issue that necessitates absence, I find that her not playing here is a rather questionable decision.

R32 Katie BOULTER (GBR) 104 v. (WC) Varvara LEPCHECNKO (USA) 118 (CH 19, Jan. 2012)

Good luck to Katie.

I assume she's playing the Canadian tournament next week too?

If nothing else, we could do with someone to keep Sam company into Thursday, especially after last weeks total no-show on the GB womens win front.
So, extra-especially, come on Katie!
Typically, it's on the court without coverage ( https://oraclechallengerseries.com/chicago/score-center/watch/ )
*0-1

Perfect stream on Bet365. 2 bps here for Katie, but someone coughing profusely is spoiling my enjoyment.

Lepchenko DFs, so 3 breaks in a row - *4-3

Think I heard Katie wanting to call the trainer (or coach maybe?) at the break but the umpire wouldn't allow until the next changeover.

2 holds (both to 30). *5-4. Lepchenko seeing her coach and Katie is seeing someone as well.

Boulter wins the first set 6-4, holding to 30 there. It ended with an 'out' call but the umpire corrected it and Katie takes the set.

This game is...not good to watch.

Although the casual approach to ballboying is enjoyable.

Haven't been following the 2nd set but saw that Katie had a 2-0* lead, but is now *2-3.

Lepchenko holding to 15, breaking to love and then holding to 15 and is now 0-30, so hopefully the momentum isn't completely changing.

Hmm, another break to love so that's 16 of the last 18 points for Lepchenko and she is back to being the favourite in the match.

2-4*
