Tallon served for the first set and Wardy, flirting dangerously with the lines, manages to break him.

5-5

QF:   James Ward WR 247 vs Oscar Otte (GER) WR 183 (CH = 129 last October)

That ain't going to be easy.

Otte beat jay clarke 6-2 6-2 in Cherbourg in February so , yes, could be tough competition for James

I don't get why James didn't get the DC call over Dan. Any thoughts or inside knowledge?

Because Dan has been playing better

As Freerider says, Dan has been generally playing better. He has  got ahead of James ranking wise.

Dan is 14-6 in Challengers ytd, (since May) (70%) and has won Vancouver a couple of weeks back as well as final in Nottingham Challenger. James is similar at 15-9 (62.5%) but just behind and hasnt picked up a win although he has two finals on his record. I think it is that title win just the other week that probably edges it for Dan.
