Week 36 - Challenger - Cassis Open Provence, France (€64,000) (hard)

But a continuing lack of first serves, with Muller putting some good pressure on, costs him another break.

3-4*

Best game of the whole match was the last one - which - finally - Dan lost. GSM to Muller 6-3 6-4

Quite deserved - Muller was, as expected, fit, technically good and a decent player.
But Dan wasn't really firing on all cylinders - poor serving and pretty spotty play all round.

Disappointing outcome. Like in the USA he has had a couple of average weeks, then of course he came good. We know it is in him, perhaps a little up and down. Will be interesting to see where Leon goes with Jay or Dan for DC day one.

Just watched last few games. He nearly turned it round - the last game, as was said, was good viewing. Not a performance to inspire a Davis Cup captain though.

Mallorca then Provence always looked like a little bit of a holiday for Dan lol, at least he picked up a few points/prize money for his troubles. I expect him to be much more switched on when he goes to Istanbul post-DC

James did very well to win that, when you consider he faced TWENTY break points.

Milojevic will NOT be pleased with that last game - some really tight shots - 'nice' to see the pesky bottling it and not our one

But James hung tough - and didn't lose it when the umpire overruled the first MP which he (and the linejudge) thought he'd won.

Good job.

James was actually a set and 5-2* up at one stage, only for Milojevic to win the next 5 games. He did well to come through that match in the end - facing 20 bps, as Jaffa said, and saving 16 of them, while converting more than half of the bps he had himself (5 out of 9) - in the end, they had both won 113 points.

He might get Tomic the Tank Engine in R2, but the 6th-seeded Aussie is serving to stay in the match against Tallon Griekspoor at the moment.

The Istanbul Challenger in which he was entered is next week so clashes with the Davis Cup. Not sure what his post-DC plans are.

Thats a not bad scalp for James, and Griekspoor in the next round is beatable as well.
