It'll be seeded, so it'll only become clear then which 4 of those 7 we could face - *new seedings will be out on Monday and it looks like we'll be unseeded with Brazil and Kazakhstan so probably won't be able to face either of those. Slovakia at home would give us a fair chance, Russia away - not so much.
*New rankings sorry, not seedings. Not sure what the criteria for the new rankings will be, but at the moment we're not seeded, whether our 10 match wins has any impact, time will tell.

Congratulations to Jo and Katie B, that will have done a world of good for Katie B, my view is DC was the making of Evo, indeed kept James Ward relevant and allowed him to break the top 100 and also inspired Kyle regularly giving him a real motivational lift as a developing player. What a great experience for Harriet, Katie Swan and Emma R, they will feel a real part of this success and want to contribute to similar in the future. Fantastic stuff, lets just wallow in it for a week or two!

Again, we'll have to see who is seeded, I think Japan will be borderline now, but tbh, if a guaranteed home tie, I think I'd take that now. They'd be faves if Osaka played, but we'd probably be faves if she didn't. But, a home tie at a much bigger arena would be great and it would obviously be even bigger and cross over more if the 2 x reigning slam champ was involved - there'd be a lot more publicity and that could be great long term, even it it did end in another defeat.
I mainly want 2 things, a home tie and avoid Russia as I think Russia are superior in pretty much every area.
Russia have loads of top players. For some reason, none turned out last year.
Yeah it's crazy depth, 11 currently in the top 100 and a few more just outside (14 in top 114), so that's 14 players ranked higher than Dart and they don't get as many home tournaments as a lot of countries, so that'll generally be more natural placement. They've already lost that Moscow River Cup which went to Latvia and there was even talk about potentially losing the Kremlin Cup as well.
Their team against Slovakia this time lasy year was relatively weak, but they still had Pavs, Makarova and Vesnina against Latvia. Obviously Vesnina won't be in contention this year after her baby, but even that sort of team would be very tricky for us as we don't have 2 top 20 singles players and Ostapenko would have been fresh off her Miami Open final last April and she and Sevas were able to take 3 single's rubbers.
Sevastova (Latvia), Andreescu (Canada) and Bencic (Swiss) are all a set up and in commanding positions in the second sets of their respective rubbers so those ties will likely be 3-0 and over very soon, leaving us with Slovakia, Italy, Netherlands, Japan, Russia, Kazakhstan and Brazil as potential opponents and we should learn of seedings tomorrow before Tuesday's draw.
Edit - Slovakia, Italy and Netherlands officially join Japan in the WG2 playoffs.

are the official current rankings. I've no idea how the latest results will affect things, but Russia being seeded seems the only thing absolutely certain and Italy unseeded also seems very likely.
The rankings explained isn't particularly helpful, but from looking at points awarded in previous years and making the assumption that February matches drop down a weighting level and not taking into account any bonus points I think the seeds are
