Some effort from Katie. She ran out of gas half way through the final set and then came back to win with some fantastic tennis.
Noise levels from the crowd were much louder than anything this week.
Well done Katie. Hopefully Jo can wrap this up next, that looked like the hardest part passed.
Be interesting to see Galfi progress. Definitely not a sub 300 player and could well have the higher ceiling out of the 2.
problem with galfi is watch her tomorow and she might look every part the wr500 senior consistency not yet coming like it did for her as a junior
cant fault-er the boulter on her singles debut very well done that lady
Yeah, it's a strange one. She obviously has the junior pedigree and she's been playing well all week - that Greek girl who took Katie the distance yesterday said that she herself was playing reasonably, but Galfi was just unplayable and she lost 6-0 6-3.
She's only had one event this year and reached a semi final, I assume of a 25k event. Can't even blame injuries as it looks like she had a full schedule last year and I'm sure David Law said she had 17 first round exits last year, unless she was playing a few with an injury like Ostapenko was towards the back end of last year.
Anyway, I'll be keeping more of an eye on her as and when I can.

It was Galfi that Swan beat in the semi finals of the Oz Open a few years ago. When she was done massively and Galfi imploded.
Quite strange this. I'm more watching this one in the background as you ever really get the impression Jo is in trouble and that she'll eventually take it, but Bondar is surviving and now guaranteed at least a tie break, so could easily take this set and then it'll get interesting. I was thinking will they or won't they play the doubles, but it may be a case of they have to...
