Emilie Lindh, now without the Gallagher, begins her latest attempt to gain a single further counter and hence a ranking. In what was billed originally as a 62 person qualifying draw, such is the lack of final entries that she will only need to win one match to qualify, and hence two matches to pick up a point. She is the only Brit left in qualifying - there had a been a few others still in the draw until just a few days ago - and Sam Murray remains the 2nd highest ranked entry.

It probably has something to do with the Spanish naming culture, where you have two surnames but are addressed using only the first. I did notice earlier in the year that another of our girls with a double barrelled surname that is based in Spain, Olivia Sonnekus-Williams, was only referred to by the first of her names by her club.
Unfortunately Emilie gets the 2nd worst draw in the MD of the 8 qualifiers, picking up the 6th seed. Worst draw is against the 3rd seed, but most qualifiers get players ranked in the 1000s. So it's going to take a special performance from Emilie to get her 3rd counter eventually.
