Entries Week 38 - 17/09/18

Mandy made it up to 4th alt for the Italy 25K and 8th alt for the France 60K+H but has withdrawn from both today.

Oh that's very disappointing to see, yes I had seen that she had looked like she could have played in either. cry I see she is still in the Italy draw for the following week (week 39). Rather oddly it is listed as her 3rd choice, but I don't see her in any other draw, and there are no other 25k+ clay tournaments in Europe that week. However, the withdrawal suggests there has been some reaction to her rest. I suppose in itself that's not surprising as she played two very long matches on her return. Just hope that it is nothing serious and settles down again soon.

Edit: To answer my own point, I think Seagull has pointed out before the random prioritisation that players often do, and Mandy has withdrawn from other tournaments she had initially entered this week, leaving just the Italian entry now.

In the ATP Doubles fields next week, Dom is top seed in St Petersberg with Skugor; Luke and Joe are in Metz and have drawn the top seeds Mahut and Roger Vasellin

Well the Frenchies are busy celebrating their DC win over Spain maybe they will have a sharp come down.

Also, Broady earned a lot of points in St Pete's last year and he isn't playing anywhere this week?

A Ward announced his retirement from tennis - was it immediate or is he finishing the season?

No sign of him in the main draw, so I assume it was with immediate effect.  cry

Question - does Laver Cup deserve a mention in this thread and, if so, is Kyle playing? Are we all behind Team Europe! Even those who voted Brexit??!

Seriously it starts friday and I for one have no idea if kyle is paying in Chicago this year?

Well Kyle is there for sure Jon. There are social media posts of him practising on the black court and in selfies with the rest of the players. Maybe it could go in Kyle's thread in the players section?

I know it's only doubles (runs for cover) but we do have a lovely number of Brits involved in finals.

Evan Hoyt+ have just taken the 25k title in Oz

The Pitaks have got the trophy in Georgia

Young James Story and Connor Thomson are seriously outranked but giving it a good go at Roehampton (first set TB as we speak)

Sam Murray's got her 25k final coming up in Portugal.

As has Naomi B in the US

And Anna Popescu and partner play Danielle Daley and partner in the semis in TUnisia so one of them are destined for the final

(Apologies to any I've missed - as said, there's rather a lot ! )

And add the Skupskis to the total, as into the final in Metz they go
