Got in as they were sitting in their chair before the presentation, but watched the ceremony and brief highlights. Looked good fun and some real doubles quality from players that know their way around a doubles court.
By the way why do they put the mixed final on at noon to start 4 hours before the start of the women's singles final ?!
You certainly don't want to start the women's final late but c'mon, there's clearly a limit on how long the mixed will go and it''s pretty unlikely to pass 2 hours, so how about say 1 pm local at least. That would still give folk a chance of a break and bite to eat as may be a priority with some.
As Jamie said to the crowd roughly - "great all you guys came to watch with still so long to go before the women's fina". Later and surely more would have watched instead of basically such an effectively very separate session. At least it seemed they brought folk down from the heavens to have most of the crowd there much closer.
"Fancy watching the mixed doubles before the women's singles, could be good with that Bethanie and Jamie, our tickets covers both?" - "Naa, let's give it a miss, got to get going so early and then we'll be hanging around for probably over 2 hours before the singles final".
The schedulers make some strange choices at the US Open.
