L16: (16) Dominic Inglot & Franko Skugor (CRO) CR 66 (27+39) lost to (3) Mike Bryan & Jack Sock (USA/USA) CR 13 (1+12) by  6-2 6-4

Looks to have been pretty comprehensive. No BPs as against 3/10 BPs converted. Just 8 return points won by Dom and Franko.

That just leaves Jamie (x2 at the moment) as our only representative in the draw (excl juniors).

I did worry about this draw for Dom and Franko. With Jack being an excellent singles player as well as doubles, its a really tall order as its not just superior doubles nouse that can get them through. Plus they have those doubles skills as well. It would really have had to be Bryan and Sock not on best form and Dom and Franko playing out of their skins. Unfortunately it was the opposite: neither Franko nor Dom served particularly well,  in one of the breaks Dom served two double faults and Im not sure he got a first serve in. Franko also didnt seem to be getting many first serves in. Meanwhile, Sock and Bryan were serving brilliantly. Even when their returns went to the guy at the net, they were hit so hard that he didnt really get a chance to control it properly. I havent seen the serving stats but they seemed to get far more first serves in and serve fewer double faults.

Nevertheless, its been a good year for both of them in doubles so far. Franko has earned five times more in doubles than singles this year and Dom has won more 250 titles in a season than previously. But they need to finish strongly: Dom has quite a few points still to defend this year.

Sock's singles performance has been woeful this year. I know he is still currently top 30 but he is something like 150 in the race. Added to that is his abuse of umpires when things haven't been going his way.
Also he is friends/dating Boulter?

if Internet pics are correct Sock and Katie are definitely dating.

Also hadn't realised Mike Bryan got divorced last year as well.

Bryan and sock doing well as a pair. Not sure what us Davis cup team is for their semi in Croatia, will they select these two?

The twin not playing had hip surgery....seems to have replaced wrist surgeries as the "on trend" injury to have. There was a clip of the match in which they retired (had they won they would've return to no.1) and you can see the instant something went wrong.

Bob has a long term injury (back?) and had surgery so is sidelined for the long term. Not sure it will be career ending but he is 40 now...

Plus he is a family man these days.

Mike and sock seem to be doing well- a good run to season end could see them get into O2, they are 10th I believe but I'm reality 9th as one of those above them is the Bryans pairing.  Mike of course is ranked number one in doubles, still playing v well it seems

One more win for Jamie and Bruno will see Jamie back to 4th I'm rankings. Doable.

Winning the event will see him 2nd behind Mike Bryan
A stretch but fingers crossed!

Thanks, Hopefully it won't be the end of his career, I love the twin partnership and their chest pump.
