That appears evenly matched and from memory Brands is a bit like Dan , not a totally orthodox player. ANd both called Dan. Hope the British Dan can prevail, reckon he will. Another win and he will be on the cusp of the top 200...

Saw Brands at Surbiton, don't recall him being particularly 'unorthodox' but he's a big banger. Got a huge serve, Dan E will fancy his chances once he gets into a rally. I'm hearing the courts in Mallorca are very fast, so may make him tough to break.

I think I am getting Brands mixed up with an older German called Karsten Braasch, at least I got 3 letters correct in his surname!

Not sure. I think you could call Brands unorthodox because he is big, and heavy, and rather jerky in the way he plays, a slightly strange technique, using force/power (because of his weight) more than acceleration or torque. I rather like watching him - his match with Bambo at Surbiton this year (which he won 6-4 in the third after two tie-breaks) was brilliant, really close and well fought.
James gets to 0-40 on Kuhn serve, a tidy s&v saves the first; a long rally that James rather lets Kuhn dictate saves the 2nd and a long return saves the 3rd, 2 points later Kuhn holds and James serving to stay in the set. A little passive.
