Four retirements already today in the men's.

No wonder with the weather.

Makes Kyle look quite good to have even managed to finish his match.

+ at least one withdrawal (Vesley) for whatever reason meaning Mahut gets into the MD.

Which is nice in that Mahut has many fans.

Shame he has to play Moutet.

In fact, he's old enough to be Moutet's father (just).

So it's the two ends of the French spectrum....

Mahut is a set up on the young Frenchman.

 Mahut won in 4 sets.

Andy is 2nd on Ashe tomorrow, not forgotten

Cam is 3rd on Court 10.

( Ashe kicks off an hour later than the other courts, ie at noon local, 5 pm BST, 1st match there is a Sloane Stephens singles match ).

The 'big' countries certainly are out in numbers.

10 French players through, 7 Americans, 5 Spaniards, 5 Aussies, 4 Italians .....

Conditions certainly looked brutal, especially for anyone prepared to go the distance. Only two full five sets matches got played yesterday.

As per the post in the women's from Peter, great to read about Novak and Fuks. jumping naked into an ice bath together in their ten minute heat break.

Murray vs Fiasco,

Anything is possible, Andy in 3 or Verdasco in 3.

If Verdasco shows up, Andy is toast, but more often that not, Tobasco does not show up.

Tsitsipas is 2 sets down to Medvedev. I had hoped he could go deep into this one, but Medvedev is a decent player so tough match

Sloane finally got it done so Andy is up next.

If the preceding match to Cam continues to go the way it is (Wang is 6-3, 2-0 up on Begu) he shouldn't be too much longer either.

Medvedev won in 4, following up his Winston-Salem ATP 250 title last week without dropping a set and his straight sets R1 win here against Donskoy. So he has won 18 of his last 19 sets and bagged a title. Not bad form.

I see Andy recovered an early break. Now 3-2*
