There's a heart-warming report by Stu Fraser about the relationship between the two in today's Times (probably behind a paywall). It was Andy who got in touch with Paul when he was awarded his Wimbledon WC last year & said he'd be there to help whenever he needed it. The closing paragraph & a bit:
Despite taking a set off Joćo Sousa, the world No 66 from Portugal, in the first round [of Wimbledon] last year, he is still unhappy with his performance. "I have always been a person who, once I have had a sniff at something, once I have seen what it is like, I hold on to that and then I strive harder until I do get there properly," Jubb says. "Obviously it was a great experience for me, but looking back it does hurt because I was there to win. I want to win, I am not going to be happy to just play there and lose. I want to be back there in the future hopefully off my own bat as well [without the need for a wild card] and hopefully be able to pick up wins at Wimbledon and other grand slams."
That is the attitude that got him his scholarship at University of South Carolina.
Very pleased for him. The resources he will need to have any chance of making progress through the challenger tour are beginning to materialise, such a shame that we are where we are ie in the middle of a pandemic, time to lockdown with Kedders? it might be mutually beneficial.

One of the earlier paragraphs in SF's article:
Given the present climate - all ATP and WTA tennis has been suspended until at least mid-July because of the coronavirus pandemic - it is uncertain when Jubb will play his first tournament as a professional. He is living with his aunt and uncle in Hull and maintaining his fitness with daily exercise bike workouts and jogs. Whenever tennis does resume, his goal is to take his world ranking up from No 519 - a decent position from a part-time schedule - into the top 100.
so that ain't gonna happen. Is Kedders even in the UK at the moment?
Really looking forward to see Paul progress through the professional ranks - especially if he manages to get to a couple of tournaments in Spain where I can go along and support in person.

As well as having talent, Jubby is also a cool looking guy, good looking, got earrings, tatts etc so should be highly marketable as well - working with Andy is sound as they can keep him on straight and narrow and focused but also help him make some money from this, which clearly he can do.

Interesting definition of "cool" to include tatts. I have a real aversion to tatts and can never understand why anyone would want one.

Yeah, but Bob, all due respect you are of a certain age. I am talking about market appeal, Nick K looks cool , not what I would wear or look like, but if you go down the Raheem Sterling, Rap artist, urban look direction, then Jubb fits into that. He will appeal to a younger audience I reckon, so long as he gets to a decent ranking.
I am like FW, can take or leave tattoos, think some look great, many look rubbish and chavvy. If I was 20 I would probably get one or two meaningful ones. I am 54 and probably wont!

OK. So I am just an old fart
I can live with that.
Nothing wrong with being old, its the fart bit we need to try and avoid!

Just seen the latest additions to this thread. I can't bear the sight of any tattoos, no matter how "worthy", so I'd much prefer people who have them on their forearms or any other visible parts of their bodies to keep them covered. And as for those bloody great holes people have in their ear lobes lined with ghastly black plastic rings, words fail me! Why do they do it? If that makes me an even older fart than Bob, then so be it. I can live with it, too. I just wish I didn't have to have such grotesque eyesores unavoidably inflicted on me.
My Son is 25, mixed race and can't bear tatts so its not age related at all.
eye of the beholder I guess!
It is easy for me to say, as a 54 year old , that I would have had them if I was 25...but I am not and sure as heck arent going to get them now, even though I am quite ok with them.
My son is 22 and occasionally threatens to get one, but not done so yet!
