As well as his tennis achievements, Paul has also won the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's sportsmanship award for the NCAA division 1 player who has excelled in sportsmanship, character, academics and playing accomplishments. He's also won the local award for sportsmanship for Carolina tennis.

We really should be proud of this young man and I really hope the LTA are taking notice of him.

Paul #4 has reached the saccharin sweet (I prefer last!) 16 of the NCAA national singles championship with a 6-3, 7-6(7) win over Dan Little #45. Not all plain sailing with regular breaks of serve and a tight tie break to finish.

He now faces Ben Sigouin #39, who plays for North Carolina another very strong tennis programme reflected by the fact that he plays in their No 2 slot, Ben is likely under ranked because playing No 2 he doesnt get regular exposure to the highest ranked players (beating high ranked players improved your rank, skewing the ranking system in conference play to players playing in the No 1 slot.

Regardless Pauls record in the number one slot against very tough opponents in the SEC (11-1) is vastly superior to Bens (10-5) in the number 2 slot in the arguably slightly weaker ACC although Wake Forest and Virginia are two of the best Mens programmes in College tennis.

Just looked Ben up Oakland and noticed he reached a career high 4 in juniors, so could well be a tough opponent for Paul. Let's hope he gets through. Last eight would be a fantastic achievement.

Brilliant news! Pretty convincing from the sound of it, winning 6-1, 6-4.

Playing Giovanni Oradini in the next round. Draw has slightly opened up in Paul's half of the draw as second seed JJ Wolf, ATP 268, has been knocked out by Sam Riffice, ATP, 530. Don't mean to tread on Oakland's toes here, just a spot of insomnia!

The big boys are all progressing to the QF in now what is a high standard tournament. Holte, Borges (dished out bakery products), Rybakov but a chink of light on Pauls side of the draw things open up nicely as the No 2 seed Wolf Ohio State goes out to Florida freshman Riffice in three.

As just posted in the college thread, Paul clocks up another straight sets win and storms into the SFs. Well done Paul.

Yep a 7-6 6-3 win and Alek Kovasevic next (#7) who has had a break out season this year. He beat Ruffice, SEC Freshman of the year but played in slot 2 for Florida. Paul didnt see him in University of SC 4-1 loss, although put away Oliver Crawford their no 1 for South Carolibas Only point. Alek has a bye so pretty well rested. Prior to that he knocked out Ewan Moore who according to his coach had some chances.

The other side of the draw plays out as per seeding with Borges (Mississippi State) No 1 playing Rybakov (TCU) No 3.
