That's a blow. So 3 men and 3 women left alive in the US open.

Lost 7-3 in the tie break after being *2-1 up.

Shame for Liam, but again, like his sister, the best chance for a qualifier ended after that 1st round match. You don't lose 9 matches in a row, often to lower ranked players, by accident. Perhaps he just has Clarke's number and that's a bad match up for Jay, but there's been very little evidence since Miami to suggest that Liam would have it in him to win 3 consecutive matches here.

This was my fear when I saw they had been drawn together.  Theyve been drawn together twice in a matter of weeks; both times Liam has won quite  convincingly  then lost a winnable match in the next round. When you look at respective results against players in the top 200 this year, Jays record is 8-8 and Liams is 9-16. But three of Liams wins were against Jay and Cam (and three of Jays losses were Liam and Cam!). Its difficult in the US challenger season to avoid playing the same tournaments but Jay might do well to avoid playing tournaments with fellow Brits where possible!

and maybe Liam should target events with his fellow Brits whilst at it!
