Guess we both loaded the scores at the same time.

Naomiserved for the set at 5-3, but eventually Katie broke back.
But Naomi broke serve again from 15-40 to take the set 6-4, and will serve first in the second set

Katie manages to hang on and takes the second set 6-4.

Not serving very well at the moment, just 40% first serves in, 0 aces and 5 DF
By contrast Naomi is 58% with 6 aces and 6 DF

Gutted. Left work just after Katie squared up and fully expected her to see it out. This to me does feel like a 'pesky' win. Probably relying fully on Hev now for a qualifier.

I'm not really that surprised by this to be honest. A player in a bad run breaking it by beating a fancied Brit? Sounds about right to me

Anyway, disappointing for Katie as this does set her back having reached FQR last year, but she'll be ok.

If this starts something for Naomi, who also reached the FQR last year, then good.

Lost 6-1 in the decider. Naomi will likely have her supporters on here but I honestly can't take any positives with that. Naomi has been in awful form this year, particularly losing twice to Myers. As a Brit, I naturally hope she does qualify but this does feel like a blow to British tennis when the young, high seed on the brink of the top 100 loses, particularly in the manner of the third set. That's twice in a few weeks now where she has lost 6-1 in the decider after squaring it up.

Lost the last time they played iirc earlier this year at the indoor Hungarian Open quals which was meant to be a favourable surface for her.
