Disappointing from Naomi. She has a lot of points coming up, but I do think she should focus on 60/80/100ks for the foreseeable; she has been generally successful at that level this year, and we know from the likes of Buzarnescu that that's a great platform for making the top 100.
Yeah, not a shock. Generally been in poor form all year, at 170 in the race rankings and that includes those 2 125k events in November last year where she managed to string a few wins together - she will be well outside the top 200 in the rankings since January. The most realistic chance of progression went after the first round, and IMO was always unlikely that Naomi could string 3 consecutive wins together at this level, given the form she was/is in.
All eggs in the Heather-Katie S basket now. Would be great if they could both win later to set up a no real lose situation. Heather is a massive favourite to beat Shimizu. You rarely see 1/20 vs 10/1 at this level unless very extraordinary circumstances like a surprise QWC (like some of ours at Wimbledon, Holly etc), so would be a major shock if Watson crashed out. Watson did also beat Hibino (who is favourite vs Katie S) 6-2 6-2 last week, so she should be reasonably confident of progression, but then again, this time 2 weeks ago there would be far more doubts.

Was just about to say 'where have we seen *5-1' before', but Katie closes it out and while we unfortunately can't see it, that is one fantastic opening set.
This is incredible 40-0*. Bar that defeat to Hev last week, Nao has been in pretty good form recently after seemingly recovered from lower back issues. She beat a red hot Bouchard (playing at home) last week and then followed it up by beating Doi yesterday as well.
