Disappointing results for Gabi and Harriet. I thought Gabi would do better than that, and that Harriet had a winnable match. Oh well, three through isn't bad.
As I mentioned earlier, this is a step up in opposition for five of our seven, who haven't played many matches at WTA level.
That's really disappointing from Harriet but there may well be a lingering issue. She's had a good few months and this is really the first 'bad' loss I can remember for her.
A chance missed as I didnt think her section was unachievable. Never mind.
Poor Gabi

Hmm, I'd say slightly below par overall. Gabi and Katy were both always well against it and I didn't expect either to win and when you consider the all GB tie then the most i was expecting to advance (win R1 matches) was 4, so this isn't too far off. Obviously only one of Hev / Katie S can advance and the Katie B / Naomi stuff has been discussed extensively on previous pages. Basically when looking at the draw when it came out, I thought Katie B, Hev and Harriet were the main hopes for potential qualifiers, so to only get 1 through is a bit underwhelming.
Hopefully Naomi can reel off another couple of wins and also Hev and Swan beat their respective Japanese opponents so that one of those would be guaranteed to qualify.
Darn. Gabi's match was always a longshot (although a longshot that I went for).
But I'd really hoped that Harriet would come through in what was a 50:50 match.
That said, I love Jaimee too, some beautiful tennis, so if she has to lose to someone, glad it was her.
But shame.
However, Katie Swan's was a 50:50 that went for us.
So we lost the two matches where there was a major difference in ranking against us, won the mathc where there was a major difference in our favour and, of the matches with the same rankings, we won one and lost one. So it sounds about right.
