By the way re the thread title I am not aware of WTA Premier 12 as any sort of general term.
Yes there are 4 Premier Mandatories, 5 Premier 5s and 12 Premiers. But Premiers is simply what they are called and so maybe we should stick to "WTA Premier".
Up to completion of Wimbledon: Record: 17-15 (53.13%) Average Rank of players faced: 55.81 Average Rank of Player Defeated: 58.81 Average Rank of opponent when losing: 48.47
Since Wimbledon:Andrew Murray message board Record: 5-3 (62.50%) Average Rank of players faced: 50 Average Rank of Player Defeated: 69.20 (one of those was a WR95 Azarenka, and Siegemunds WR146 throws things out a bit) Average Rank of opponent when losing: 18
If she loses against Carla, then the win % will be 55.56 % - pretty much in line with the ratio prior to the US hard court season.
So, the real world impact thus far of any perceived improvement appears slight

interesting stats. How does it look if one compares WTA points won per event in each period , which is what the real world actually runs on....

Well, the one point the stats are clearly making is that Jo has lost only to the much better players post-Wimbledon and is not losing to players around her current ranking as she was previously. So this stat does show an improvement in her performances.
Hopefully this is the normal 'viral illness' on the WTA which is usually shorthand for, 'has to give a reason for withdrawing to prepare for another tournament, and viral illness is the most widely accepted non-specific symptom that everybody tends to accept without question'.
i.e. an excuse - Kiki Bertens & Ashleigh Brty also cited a 'viral illness' when withdrawing here. I'd be pretty much astonished if all three don't appear in Flushing Meadows, and compete with skill and success, hopefully, very much including Johanna
If Jo had withdrawn before her first match I'd have totally agreed with you ABB. I'm just surprised that she played yesterday and withdrew today, so I do hope that it is nothing too serious.
