We've had a separate thread most years for the Tour Sutton Premier event because quite a few of our top players take part and the prize money is high. The winner also gets a wildcard into the main draw of an ITF event in the next 12 months (if needed).
This year the top 8 seeds (of which the top 6 are ATP ranked) are:
Neil Pauffley
Isaac Stoute
Samm Butler
Sean Hodkin
Ed Hubner
Adam Jones
Patrick Foley
Brandon Murphy
Nice to see players like Matt Short, too, who are capable of causing an upset.
Brandon Murphy, still a junior and a long-time fave, and who is most certainly not part of the favoured, affluent blazer brigade, has chalked up a win in R1 at Sutton.
Well done to junior Brandon Murphy, who defeated Samm ATP 974 by a whisker !

A little shout out to Millen Hurrion (a completely new name for me) who has made the men's doubles final and the mixed doubles final, and lost to Neil P in the singles 6-4 6-4, which is a decent score.
Seemingly, he was a freshman at college in the US this year, intends to be doing 15 and 25ks next year, with his sights set on challengers in two years and then ATP.
I know many say it, and few can achieve it, but good luck to him.....

The Butler - Murphy match was a brilliant spectacle. There was a huge crowd for a British Tour, and the level in the third set was phenomenal. Only 15 unforced errors total. Samm broke to go 3-2, then 4-2. There was a 15 minute game on Brandons serve then where Samm had points for 5-2, Brandon held with a ridiculous BH passing shot, then broke for 4-4, held for 5-4. Then a 7 deuce game on Samms serve which he eventually held. Then Samm broke for 6-5 and was broken to 15 when serving for it. At 2-2 in the TB Brandon got cramp in his hand. Then a remarkable stream of winners to finish. Really felt for Samm. It was a hell of a performance from
Both.
