Not quite so serene progress in the doubles, considering their opponents both got wiped in the 2nd round singles earlier in the day, but progress it is... Their SF opposition will toughen up now... well at least one half of it will.
Much tougher today, but Emily makes the SF
She will play honorary Brit, and doubles partner for the week, Joanna Garland, for a place in the final.
6-2 4-6 6-4
Emily has now played 51 matches this year, which is the most amongst Brits.
Harriet led for a long time; she has 50 matches, in second place. Katie B is third, on 48.
They are also the leading trio for total number of wins. Harriet leads with 35 wins; Emily 31, Katie Boulter, 30. Harriet leads them (but not all Brits) easily on win %, on 70.00% won.
Thank you to the Oracle for the early morning bulletin
Emily App and half-Brit Joanna Garland won their doubles, 6-3 6-3
I struggle with the term half Brit, Joanna is totally committed to playing for another nation, she has British heritage as does the half Brit Donald Trump. Fortunately it is clear where both Donalds and Joannas allegiances lie.

You can only play for one nation. Yet you can be proud of your dual nationality parentage. Joanna has close links to the UK - it is not just 'British heritage' - her father/coach is British, Joanna plays for Hertfordshire in County tennis, she lives here part of the time, grew up here for some years, is sponsored by a UK company, indeed her sponsor claims that she is 'Stevenage-based'.... that warrants her British connections being pointed out. No parallel to Trump.

I think you miss the point it was not aimed specifically at Joanna or her family. Nationality is binary the flag next to her name is that of Taiwan. It is a Taiwan v GB final. I would be ecstatic if Joanna chose to represent GB, which is perfectly entitled to do but has actively chosen not to. She is not contributing to the development of British Tennis at the moment indeed she may well inflict a bit of damage tomorrow. If she wins tomorrow it is one to the peskys
Its a personal view, a minor frustration but when competing in international sport you are either with us or again us. There is now very little coverage of Hertfordshire based Aljaz who represented Great Britain with a great deal of dignity and has now chosen not to.

I agree more with CD. As British tennis fans we can follow and pay more attention to the likes of Joanna because of her situation. Who knows, she may well switch over in the future depending on how her career is going and if she feels it will be more beneficial, and even if she doesn't, if she does well at Wimbledon in the future and has a sit down chat with Sue Barker then of course her background and upbringing will be brought up so I think it's good that posters reference those to make more people aware.
Likewise Issy Wallace, she's basically as British as anyone - born and raised here until 10 to a British father and mother but went to Aus for 5 years before returning with the family. She may represent Aus due to differences with the LTA but I'd find it strange not to acknowledge her in a different way to the likes of Madison Inglis or Abbie Myers. I for one do keep tabs on the likes of Garland, Wallace, Baines and hope they do well and if they do decide to represent GB in future then that's even better. Obviously just personal opinion though.
A very useful looking turnaround sees Emily into another final, 4-6 6-2 6-2
Yu Jin Ahn, a currently unranked former WR 931 awaits in the title deciding match.
